EMS Programs

Emergency Medical Technician

Few things can be as fulfilling as being the difference in the life of someone facing a true emergency, and Emergency Medical Technicians are just that.  At ARES, we make it our mission to educate and train you to provide the best quality care to those in your family and community with confidence and knowledge, no matter the circumstance.

While becoming certified is a requirement to work as an EMT, we don’t stop there.  We strive to bring the quality of your education beyond simple minimum standards and help you to become the best EMT you can be; the kind we expect to take care of our loved ones in an emergency.

As First Responders, Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) answer emergency calls and transport patients to medical facilities.  They are responsible for assessing a patient’s condition and managing respiratory, cardiac, and traumatic emergencies.

  • The EMT program requires 192 hours of overall training, taking 4-5 months to complete.
  • All applicants must be at least 17 years of age to qualify.
  • Our certification seeking graduates currently have a 100% pass rate.
  • Employment rate of EMTs is projected to grow 15% from 2016 to 2026.

Once you complete the ARES EMT program, you will be eligible to test for national registry certification as well as obtain state certification.  Once National Registry Certification is obtained, you can then file for reciprocity for your state’s licensure.  Ask us or contact your state department of health or EMS for more information on your state’s requirements.

Start in our LIVE virtual classroom where you’ll interact with your instructors and fellow students in real-time as you engage in your emergency medical technician didactic education. All the supporting materials you’ll need will be preloaded into your course management system before the first class.

Course curriculum covers anatomy, physiology, patient assessment survey and triage, bleeding control, treatment of shock, oxygen therapy, and more.

Unable to be at your computer during a live lecture? Don’t worry! Not only is our system accessible from your smartphone or tablet, but every class is recorded and archived, so you can get attendance credit when you watch the class in full within three days of the original lecture. And, if you need extra help with a topic, it’s always there for your review.

At pre-scheduled points during the didactic lectures, students will travel to their nearest training location for skills training and testing. You will be trained to handle a multitude of real-world situations through extensive hands-on training and instruction in our simulation labs. At the same time that each skills training happens, students will be able to complete one of their required field internships on their local ambulance company.

After all training and field internships have been completed, students will then be eligible to take the NREMT psychomotor and written exam in their home state.

Advanced EMT

Advanced EMTs are EMTs with additional skill-sets beyond those of a basic EMT.  Advanced EMTs are trained to perform additional airway interventions, intravenous procedures and other advanced skills at the discretion of their specific authority having jurisdiction (AHJ).

To be eligible for ARES’ Advanced EMT program, each student must be a Louisiana certified EMT by the start of the course.  This can be done naturally by taking our full course including the basic EMT portion, but existing EMTs wishing to take just the advanced curriculum will need to receive LA state reciprocity prior to starting the course.  Advanced EMT students will be required to perform all 24 hours of clinical training within the state of Louisiana, which will be completed at the conclusion of the boot camp.

  • The AEMT program requires 192 hours of overall training, taking 5-6 months to complete.
  • All applicants must be at least 17 years of age to qualify.
  • Our certification seeking graduates currently have a 100% pass rate.
  • Employment rate of AEMTs is projected to grow 15% from 2016 to 2026.

Once you complete the ARES AEMT program, you will be eligible to test for national registry certification as well as Louisiana state certification.  Upon completion of either of these, your state may allow for direct reciprocity.  Ask us or contact your state department of health or EMS for more information on your state’s requirements.
